CAPM® aspirant:

What is CAPM® and what are its benefits?

The CAPM® certification is for project team members supporting projects using project Management, techniques, tools and methodologies.

Exam Eligibility Criteria:

Candidate should have an eligibility letter from PMI to appear for the CAPM examination. Following are the basic criteria

  • The should hold a bachelors or global equivalent university degree
  • Candidate should have minimum of 1,500 hours of project management experience within the five project management process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing)
  • A candidate for the CAPM® credential must complete 23 contact hours of Project Management education prior to applying to take the exam
  • The experience verification form (showing number of hour’s of experience in project management) should be submitted.

For example, if a course takes approximately three (3) hours to complete, three (3) contact hours are awarded for successfully completing that course. Please find the list of applicable courses here. What is PMP® and what are its benefits?

It is for project managers with approximately 3 to 5 years experience at a responsible level The PMP® is by far the project management credential of choice across a vast array of industries and companies. By attaining the PMP® credential, your name will be included in the largest and most prestigious group of certified professionals in the project management community.

  • Candidate should have minimum of 4,500 hours of project management experience within the five project management process groups (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling and Closing)
  • The experience verification form (showing number of hour’s of experience in project management) should be submitted
  • As a prerequisite for taking the PMP exam, applicants must earn 35 contact hours of instruction that addresses learning objectives in project management
  • These hours must include content on project quality, scope, time, cost, human resources, communications, risk, procurement or integration management.

Certified PMP®:

Under PMI’s Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) Program, those holding PMP® credentials must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) during each CCR cycle following their exam (every 2–3 years depending on the date of the exam).
